In 1892 Nobel Prize Winner, Dr Ferdinand Henri Moissan discovered that Silicon Carbide could be synthesised by crystalising carbon under pressure from molton rock - a material which is second only in strength to diamonds.

Commonly used in furnaces and the aerospace industry, it has never before been used in a domestic oven, until now.
