At a Snails Pace
Several members of the Lincoln branch recently attended a very successful Bread Making Event presented by Linda Hewett of Fulbeck Bread Making School here in the Mercury interactive kitchen, using both RC1090 and Thermastone heat store range cookers for perfect results. It was a wonderful evening, enjoyed by all who attended when Linda demonstrated how to make white and wholemeal dough and how to effectively use it to produce focaccia, pizza, bread sticks, loaves and chocolate and apricot brioche.
All members then went on to produce their own dough and bake delicious treats to eat with exquisite local cheeses and then they were able to take home samples to delight their friends and family.
"It was a pleasure to meet such a great bunch of like-minded people who enjoy taking the time to create delicious, wholesome foods and enjoy sharing them with great company. We hope it will be the first of many similar events with this thriving local group" said Jenny Hyatt, Managing Director, Mercury Appliances Ltd.
Slow Food was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and peoples dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the world. Today, Slow Food has more than 83,000 members in 107 countries around the world.
